This is a terrific smart bird feeder. I have experience with one from Bird Buddy and this one is far superior in almost every way which I will point out later. This arrived well packaged and very simple to assemble, just a couple of screws to affix the perch. It is made of a thick high quality material which will no doubt stand up to the elements. It came with excellent instructions and access to useful videos. So assembly was a breeze.Options for mounting include onto wall or post, pole (clamps included), or even onto a tree (via quality strap to go around tree). I mounted on deck post. You need to install bracket on back of feeder with 4 screws into perfectly placed pre-drilled holes. You do need to make sure bracket has wider openings for mounting screws oriented toward bottom of feeder so you can slip secured bracket over the two screws you put into post or wall. The solar panel installs easily per instructions.Pairing camera with home internet always a challenge for me but this one was EASY! I just followed directions and it was all set up in 10 minutes. Their app is excellent. And the result- I’m going to need a bigger bag of seed! I get more than 100 videos a day, recording very sharp high definition videos. I had to turn the notification sound off on my phone which the app allows because of the number of visitors. The solar panel keeps the battery charged and it has stayed charged. I have not elected to purchase the bird identification service yet as we recognize most of the birds we see on the feeder but will consider it ($72 per year, a bit steep). And that brings me to the couple of ways this feeder falls short of Bird Buddy. Due to top door opening to refill, you can‘t hang this from a shepherd’s hook or similar bracket. With separate solar panel it would be a pain to remove feeder from its mounting since you would need to disconnect solar charging wire from camera- not hard just another step. So mount where you can refill through top easily. The biggest difference and greatest drawback is that this feeder only records 20 seconds of video per bird visit. BUT, not bad considering how many videos I get in a day! I‘m not missing much!Overall this is a terrific, easy to use bird feeder with loads of great features and wonderful video clarity and sound (you hear them cracking the sunflower seeds- pretty neat.) It is well constructed of quality materials and I expect it to last for years.Highly recommend. Photo of feeder and one of many videos attached.
